1952 Yankee of the Past: Dutch Ruether

"Dutch Ruether, the once-great Cincinnati Reds pitcher, was telling about the famous 1919 World Series against the Chicago Black Sox.
'In that first game,' he said, 'I got two triples, a single and a base on balls- a record that's never been beaten. And then- I found out that they were only foolin'.' "

-Earl Wilson in the New York Post (Baseball Digest, August 1952)
