1951 Yankee of the Past: Buddy Rosar

"Buddy hit .298 in 27 games for the Red Sox in 1950.
In baseball since 1934, and in the majors since 1939, he has played for the Yankees, Indians and Athletics. He holds many major league fielding records. In 1946 Buddy set a new record for catchers by playing through a season of 117 games without making an error. In 1948, he led American League backstoppers with a .997 percentage.
Buddy hit the majors with the New York Yankees."

1951 Yankee of the Past: Red Rolfe

"An ex-Yankee, Red is one of the most popular in the long list of stars that have performed for the Bombers.
He began in baseball in 1931. Red's first full season with the Yankees was 1934. He was a top fielding third baseman and a good hitter.
Red graduated from Dartmouth with a Bachelor of Arts degree and has coached baseball and basketball at Yale. He managed in the majors for the first time in 1949."

1951 Yankee of the Past: Aaron Robinson

"In 107 games in 1950, Aaron hit .226 and drove in 37 runs. He hit .269 in 110 games in 1949 and drove in 56 runs.
He's been in organized baseball since 1937. In six seasons in the minors, Aaron was with six different clubs. He first came to the majors with the Yankees in 1943 and finished the season at Newark. He spent 1944 in military service and rejoined the Yankees in 1945.
Aaron was traded to the White Sox for 1948, and to the Tigers for 1949."

1951 Yankee of the Past: Mel Queen

"Mel took part in 33 games during 1950, with a record of five wins and 12 losses.
He began in 1938 and split 1941 among three clubs of the Yankee chain- Newark, Kansas City and Binghamton. He was with the same three in 1942 before joining the parent club toward the close of the season. With Kansas City in 1943, Mel started 1944 with Newark, then came up to the Yankees a second time.
After military service in 1945, Mel was with the Yanks in 1946 and the Pirates during 1947."

1951 Yankee of the Past: Jerry Priddy

"Jerry did a good job for the Tigers in his first season for them last year. He batted .277 in 157 games and drove in 75 runs.
He hit .290 in 145 games with the St. Louis Browns in 1949 and drove in 63 runs. At the end of the 1949 season, Jerry was traded to the Bengals from the Browns.
Jerry came up through the minors to the Yankees in 1941 and was sent to the Senators for 1943. At the end of the 1947 campaign, St. Louis purchased Jerry's services from Washington for $25,000."

1951 Yankee of the Past: Duane Pillette

"Duane started 1950 with the Yankees and appeared in four games with them, with no wins or losses, and had an earned run average of 1.29. He was traded to the Browns, and in 24 games won three and lost five.
He began in baseball with the Yankees' Newark farm team in 1946 and had an 11-10 record that year. He divided 1947 between Newark and Portland and was with Portland in 1948. Duane started 1949 with Newark and was up to the Yanks after 17 games."
