That year he participated in 36 contests and had an earned run average of 2.85, third best in the loop. The White Sox purchased Ken's contract from the Solons after the 1949 campaign."

1951 Yankee of the Past: Randy Gumpert
"Randy had a 5-12 record for the White Sox in 1950.
He started out in 1936 with the Athletics and spent part of 1936 and 1937 with them. Randy was in the minors from 1939-42 and in military service from 1943-45.
After his discharge, Randy became a member of the Yankees. Over two seasons he won 15 while losing four. He was released to the White Sox in July 1948.
Randy was in 34 games for Chicago in 1949, winning 13 and losing 16 with a 3.81 ERA."

1951 Yankee of the Past: Al Gettel
"Al is back for his second big league fling. He had a very impressive 23-7 record for Oakland of the Pacific Coast League in 1950.
In pro ball for 14 full seasons, Al compiled a 17-7 record and an earned run average of 1.81 for Norfolk in 1944. He joined the Yankees after that season and remained with them until traded to the Indians.
Al was sent to the White Sox in June 1948, was with the Senators a year later, then to Oakland."

Called up by the Yanks for 1944, he had a 13-13 record that year, then won ten and lost nine for the Bombers in 1945. Monk was with Newark and Seattle for the next two seasons. With the Phillies in 1948, he was traded to the Cubs at the close of the season."

1951 Yankee of the Past: Jim Delsing
"After knocking off a .400 average in 12 games for the Yankees in 1950, Jim was traded to the Browns. He took part in 69 games for St. Louis, hitting .263.
In 1949, he hit .317 for the Yankees' Kansas City farm team, and .350 in nine games for the parent club. He was voted the best outfielder in the American Association.
Jim began as a shortstop and switched to the outfield the next season."
